The Bont Vaypor+ Road Shoe delivers unparalleled levels of rigidity - for which Bont has become known - and comfort in a beautifully finished package.

A kangaroo leather upper is strong yet supple, and combined with a cow hide internal lining provides new levels of comfort from Bont. Additionally, the Vaypor+ retains the company's renowned low stack height and carbon technology that provides super levels of stiffness.

Double BOA dual direction dials improve foot security inside the shoe while anatomical design inside the Vaypor+ means your foot is supported to improve comfort and performance.

Features

Heavy Duty Upper: The Vaypor+ is manufactured with a kangaroo upper to provide a supple yet extremely durable shoe. Kangaroo leather is renowned for its high strength, light weight and durability. Details on the upper are embroidered to continue the classic theme.

(Note: All leather used in these shoes are a byproduct of meat production - animals are not slaughtered specifically for the purpose of creating this leather material).

Leather Internal Lining: The synthetic lining of other Bont shoes is replaced with high quality cow hide lining, offering a soft and luxurious internal finish.

Unidirectional Carbon Chassis: The Vaypor+ features a unidirectional monocoque chassis in matt finish and is upgraded with an improved grid to assist cleat adjustment.

Retention System: IP1 BOA dials are utilized on the 2016 Vaypor+. BOA's premium series dial offers dual directional micro adjustability and quick release functionality (below).

Ventilation: The 2016 Vaypor+ is highly ventilated with integrated air vents on the front bumper providing direct airflow into the shoe along with perforated upper and tongue, to maximise breathability (below).

Anti-Stretch: Between the outer leather and the liner Bont adds a material that is proprietary to Bont to stop the cycling shoe from stretching over time. This material has similar strength characteristics to Kevlar. The material is stitched to the outer leather and bonded to the liner so it can never move or be removed, it becomes part of the cycling shoes structure. This layer assists in pedalling efficiency by maintaining a supportive structure over the top of the foot in the upward part of the pedal stroke (below).

Carbon Fiber: Bont carbon fiber is sourced exclusively from the world's #1 carbon manufacturer, Toray of Japan. The base of the Vaypor+ is made by hand utilizing uni-directional carbon fiber which is embedded with epoxy thermo setting resin. The fibers are hand laid in the matrix according to the strain they will have to bear.

The Vaypor+ utilizes unidirectional carbon fiber allowing Bont to create a performance cycling shoe with very specific strength characteristics based on stress points in cycling. As unidirectional carbon absorbs less resin then cross weave fibers, it also assists in the weight reduction of the cycling shoes. This creates a super stiff base for maximum efficiency and power.

Last Design: A last is a replica of a foot that the cycling shoe is built around. Last makers do not make cycling shoe lasts, they only make shoe lasts so perfecting a cycling shoe last requires a great deal of expertise in functional biomechanics and ongoing research. Bont have been perfecting their performance footwear lasts since 1975 (starting with ice skates) and the process is ongoing.

Bont believes their cycling shoes continue to be a leader in providing the most functional and correct anatomical support to cyclists than any other brand on the market. Their motto in terms of cycling shoe fit is simple, "We make shoes for cycling, not walking."

Padding: The Vaypor+ utilises closed cell memory foam that will not retain water assisting in maintaining a lighter shoe during wet conditions as well as ensuring sweat which can begin to break down the durability of the shoe is not absorbed.

TPU Toe Protector: The toe protector not only protects the front area of the shoe from wheel rub and impact, but also houses ventilation holes for improving airflow through the shoe(below).

Heat Moulding: Bont's proprietary resin has been developed and perfected over 36 years to be an extremely stiff resin that becomes pliable at relatively low temperatures. All Bont cycling shoes are able to be moulded over the entire chassis providing cyclists not only with the most anatomically designed cycling shoe on the market today, but also with the ability to fine tune the fit of the entire shoe to give a customised fit. You do not need to mold your shoes if they fit you straight out of the box.

Medial Longitudinal Arch Support: Structural medial longitudinal arch support is provided to stop over pronation of feet. Over pronation is one of the main contributors to incorrect tracking of knees during a cyclist's pedalling phase due to internal rotation of tibia and femur. This can result in knee injuries. In addition, the rotation of tibia/femur can cause the pelvis to tilt resulting in lower back strain(below).

Anatomical Forefoot Shape: Conventional cycling shoes offer a "dress shoe" type shaping. Although highly aesthetic this will cause the toes along with the metatarsals to be overly constricted, compressing the nerves between the metatarsals which often results in the common "hot foot" sensation. Bont cycling shoes anatomical shaping allows the foot to function in its most efficient and anatomically correct position. The foot is supported in its endeavour to relax through the metatarsal joints allowing the pedalling force to be spread across the greatest possible surface area. This gives the shoes their unique squared-off look(below).

Anatomical Heel Cup: The anatomical heel cup shaping of Bont cycling shoes provides increased stability during the pull through stage of pedalling stroke and up stroke(below). This stabilization is achieved without any mechanical operation or over tightening of straps/laces allowing for increased comfort and blood circulation.

Lateral Forefoot Support: Bont's lateral forefoot support(below)ensures neutral positioning of the forefoot and alleviates common issues associated with over pronation and supination. These issues often result in incorrect tracking of knees causing injuries along with hip and lower back pain.

Size Guide

To find your size, place a piece of paper on a flat surface and place it directly up against a wall. Stand on the paper and ensure you have a 1mm gap between your heel and the wall. Plant your foot firmly on the ground and slowly roll your weight forward and onto the forefoot. For the most effective longest toe measurement, your heel should lift off the ground slight. Look down and take the measurement from the wall edge of the paper to your longest toe. Record the length. With your foot still in place, mark the widest points of the inner and outer edges of your feet. Measure the width across the widest part of your foot and record the number in millimeters. Repeat this step for both feet.

Once the measurements have been taken, use the Foot Length Range on the size chart to find your size. The Last Length measurements shown on the chart are the exact length of the last that we use to build the shoes. This correlates to the precise internal measurement of the shoe.

Following selection of your size in EU or USA, move downward to select the most appropriate width. We recommend adding 1mm to find the most appropriate width. For example, you are looking at a Vaypor S and have determined your best shoe size is 45 and your feet measure 105mm (left) and 107mm (right) wide, with an additional 1mm added, you would still fit within the Standard Range. If your feet measure wide than 109/110mm (size 45/10.5) you should consider Wide fit.
