Bike Assembly Required
Bicycles require some assembly. This may include fitting the wheels, handlebars, pedals, seatpost and seat, and front brake caliper. This should not be attempted by the customer unless familiar with modern bicycle assembly and should otherwise be carried out by a competent bicycle mechanic. This includes bicycles sent to our stores for in store pick up, however, your local Bikebug store can assemble the bicycle for a fee, please contact your local Bikebug store after placing your order.
The ByK E-620R 16 Speed Boys Bike is the perfect 'next step' in ytheir child's cycling because it provides them with the quality machinery required to grow with their sport. The ByK E-620R 16 Speed Boys Bike is designed for riders aged 10-14 years with a height range of 142.5-175cm.
The team at ByK knows what's required to keep your kids riding for longer and this is reflected in their:
Design: The team at ByK knows kids love to be like their heroes, so on the 620R they can be ready to climb the highest mountain pass and ride to school the next day. The unique design makes it possible to play around cyclocross style as well. The clever integrated child-specific gear design combines with premium components for a lightweight, versatile and strong dream machine.
Like the entire ByK Range, this is not a scaled-down adult bike. Every single component has been considered, tested, custom sized and tuned to suit the rider's profile. Their unique ergonomic riding position and geometry offer a range of riding positions and adjustability unexpected at this size.
Performance: Their newest bike is road-inspired but what really shines about the E620R is that it handles the vast variety of real world riding challenges like no other. From their lightweight ergonomic Alloy frame and CRM forks to the durable low profile race tyres with high puncture resistance and the custom sized handlebars and stem for the best possible control and comfort, every detail has been considered.
Microshift's innovative gear/brake shifters are child specific, super easy to reach and use and we have combined them with their premium SRAM cassette, gear changing is taken to a new level for kids road bikes.
Safety: Safety is paramount for ByK and with the E620R ByK takes safety to a new level for a kids road bike. From their predictive handling and shock absorbing geometry to the stopping power of their mini v-brake system, the innovative frame improves balance and control to help each rider operate at the safest level possible.
To make a children's bike safe, the rider needs to be able to brake efficiently and confidently. The custom-sized V-Brakes used are calibrated for age, ability and ergonomic fit. And they are made of non-flexing, strong and light alloy. Their lightweight alloy rims ensure pedalling is easier but more importantly, alloy rims are a more efficient braking surface than cheaper, chrome-plated steel rims, and are therefore safer.

How to Choose the Right Size Kids Bike
When it comes to choosing the right size kids bike, ByK's advice is 'smaller is better than bigger'. Children learn to ride with greater ease, have more control on the bike and have a lot more fun if they are the master of their domain. Their overall advice on choosing the right size kids' bike is based not only on age and height, but ability and personal confidence.
It is all too common to see parents using height as the only key measurement for a bike's correct size. Be careful - it can easily be misleading as an indicator. As most kids' balance develops at roughly the same speed, using age with ability is far more relevant. If you can add age with height and ability (ability is a hard one to measure but as a parent you must be honest and realistic) and confidence, then you have a really good indicator.
A bike is the right size when your child can:
Sit on the saddle and rest the balls of both feet on the ground.
Straddle the top bar with a comfortable clearance and with both feet flat on the ground.
Reach the handlebars with a slight bend in the arms when sitting on the seat.
If there are handbrakes, ytheir child should be able to grasp them and apply enough pressure to stop the bike.
The most common reason kids have to move up a size on a normal bike is because of the lack of knee room between the seat and handlebars. This forces you to put up the seat and then ytheir child loses interest or confidence in riding because the centre of gravity is really high and hence the bike becomes even more difficult to ride.
ByK bikes have more knee room than other bikes, which helps to lengthen the life of the bike and make the bike handle in a more predictable way. Fit out more about kids' bike sizing here (http://www.bykbikes.com/bike-riding-tips/10-things-you-need-to-know-before-you-buy-a-kids-bike.html)
The ByK [prounounced 'bi-kay'] Bike was born from one father's desire to build a bike that was made specifically for children. One that was suitable for a child's growing body and differing proportions to that of an adult. Warren Key has owned bicycle stores his whole life and knows a thing or two about bike design.
He has a 12, 10 and 6 year old and realised early on that there were no well designed bikes on the market for children, anywhere in the world. After a few years of research, design and prototypes, the ByK Bike is now available for Australian children to own.
