About Schwalbe Pro One TL Easy Folding Clincher Tyre
Tubeless technology and Schwalbe's One Star Triple Compound are the perfect match to create the Schwalbe One Tubeless Tyre.
The Schwalbe Pro One Tubeless Ready Folding Clincher Tyre brings tubeless technology to more riders and makes significant savings when it comes to rolling resistance.
These tyres are constructed with MicroSkin, a development which differentiates the Pro One to previous tubeless tyres. The patented construction consists of a high-tensile micro fabric which is vulcanized together with the rubber compound and the carcass. MicroSkin envelops the entire carcass and facilitates a fault-free Tubeless Easy operation for high pressure tires, not unlike SnakeSkin on an MTB tire.
This allows for 'Tubeless Easy', new technology from Schwalbe which means that only a little liquid sealant is necessary when installing the tyre, yet extensive conversion processes involving a lot of shaking and frequent re-pumping are not required. Compared to classic tubeless tires, it is far easier to assemble.
In terms of performance, these technologies equate to much lower rolling resistance, prompting bicyclerollingresistance.com to comment: "The new Pro One is the lowest rolling resistance tire I have tested to date."
And this from Bikeradar.com: "In comparisons using Schwalbe’s own rolling resistance test rig with a 50kg load on a wheel spinning at 30kph, the company’s basic training tyre – the Durano – records a resistance of 29W. The One clincher is much faster at 22W, and the One Tubeless quicker still at 19W. The new Pro One shaves off even more, burning just 17W of your effort to turn it."
IAM Cycling riders Martin Elmiger and Sylvain Chavanel put the tubeless tyres to the test in the extreme conditions of paris-Roubaix. There is no tougher challenge for either rider or tyre than the cobblestones of this race. Their initial scepticism gave way to huge enthusiasm for the tyres - both were amazed at the speed and comfort with which the tubeless tyres guided them over the hellish cobblestones.
They didn't experience a single snake-bite, by far the most frequent cause of blow-outs on the Paris-Roubaix course, and both finished without a single puncture - Elmiger finished in fifth.
