An unprecedented gravel bike with real suspension. It's the most off-road capable and on-road comfortable road bike ever made.
Topstone Carbon distills our experience making fast race bikes, comfortable endurance bikes and ultra-light dual suspension mountain bikes into an exceptional machine, designed for maximum fun in places beyond most gravel bikes' abilities, or maximum comfort in more ordinary terrain.
KingPin Suspension System - Up to 30mm of bump-smoothing suspension, without the weight and complexity of a shock or linkages
Proportional Response Construction - Suspension and overall frame ride-feel is custom tuned by size, using different carbon layup and different tube dimensions, so each size is dialed for the rider. Just get on and go.
Connected - An integrated wheel sensor delivers hyper accurate speed, route and distance info, registers your bike, reminds you of needed service and more, all through the free Cannondale App.
LockR Pivot - Thru-axle pivot locks the left and right seat-stays together, preventing independent rotation for a solid feel and instantaneous response
Dialed Endurance Fit - Offers a perfectly balanced riding position: upright enough for comfort over the long haul and control when tackling technical off-road terrain, yet still low and forward enough for speedy efficiency.
Outfront Steering Geometry - Keeps the steering light and agile, while positioning the wheel further in front of the rider for stability and confidence on rougher stuff. Plus it reduces the chance of toe overlap on smaller sizes.
Big Tyre Clearance - Comes with big 700x37c tyres for grip and comfort, but has room for up to 40mm tyres with tons of clearance. You can even put on 650 wheels with 48mm tyres if small and fat is your thing.
Carry That Gear. Plenty of places to store gear and water, with a multi-position mount on the downtube, and more on the top tube, seat tube, and under the down tube. There's even mounts on the forks.
Fender Up - Fully fender ready. A removable fender bridge on the rear stays is there when you need it, gone when you don't
Speed Release Equipped - Speed Release thru-axles offer the stiffness and solid feel of a thru-axle, with the easy use of a quick release axle. Compatible with most thru-axle wheelsets.
Easy Internal Cable Routing - With our DirectLine cable routing, an internal tube guides the cable and housing through the frame, from entry to exit for headache-free service.
Dropper Ready - Built to accept an internally-routed 27.2 dropper seatpost, which shouldn’t really be a surprise on a bike that's this off-road capable.
KingPin Suspension - Revolutionary, super-light suspension that lets you ride harder on dirt and more smoothly on pavement. Better control. Better traction. Better comfort. Nothing sacrificed.
It’s Easier to Go Harder - Refined geometry and rider position deliver an experience that’s stable, composed and comfortable without losing that spark. Go further, ride longer, charge harder.
The Last Detail - Cannondale thought of everything. Big clearance for big tyres. Tons of gear and storage mounts. Speed Release thru-axles. DirectLine cable routing. Internal dropper post compatibility. In short, the works.

Q. How much travel does the Topstone Carbon have?
A. That depends on many things. We say it has around 30mm measured at the saddle, but the Kingpin system consists of a series of flexing frame members that all work in concert, rather than a set of links with defined stop points, like a traditional suspension setup. Heavier riders or big forces could get it to flex more, while lighter riders and forces will cause it to flex less. The frames are size-specific, designed to deliver the appropriate amount of deflection for the average rider for a given size.
Q. How does Kingpin differ from other flexing systems like SAVE or IsoSpeed?
A. The key difference is the Kingpin pivot in the centre of the seat tube. It delivers several degrees of rotation which allows both the seat tube and the rear stays to flex far more than they could if the stays were fixed to the seat-tube. It delivers a significant amount of deflection at the seat, which offers more seated comfort than any other road bike. It also allows for a small amount of deflection, or travel, at the rear axle, which improves traction, comfort and control when you’re out of the saddle. This is also the primary difference between Kingpin and IsoSpeed, Trek’s seat-tube decoupler system. IsoSpeed allows the seat tube to flex within an otherwise extremely rigid frame, so it only provides seated comfort (and not as much as Kingpin).
Q. Does the Kingpin system require any set-up or tuning?
A. None at all. Our Proportional Response construction changes the carbon layup, and the shape and dimensions of the frame tubes for each frame size, ensuring that riders of different sizes will experience similar suspension feel. Of course, this means that on any given size, heavier riders will experience more deflection, but even the lightest riders will notice a significant comfort improvement over any other road bike they’ve ridden.
Q. Do you notice any bobbing or pedal-induced actuation of the suspension? Or does it feel un- balanced with suspension in the rear and a rigid fork?
A. No. The effect of the suspension system is almost imperceptible. Until you hit a bump, thatis. On smooth roads, it motors along like a normal road bike, but when things get rough, it’s incredible how much it absorbs. It feels balanced and poised in every situation.
Q. Do all Topstone Carbons share the same frame?
A. Yes. Same sweet BallisTec Carbon frame and fork on all models. And with Topstone, our engineers altered the BallisTec construction to prioritize durability over gram counting, so riders can push the limits with confidence.
Q. Why doesn’t Topstone Carbon have an Oliver fork like Slate, or an Ocho?
A. The Topstone frame design isn’t compatible with the Oliver fork, and the current Ocho has too much travel for road use. Maybe someday we’ll make an Ocho Oliver. Olcho? Ochliver?
Q. Is Topstone Carbon compatible with 650 wheels?
A. Yes. Its impressive clearance allows you to run up to 48mm tires with 650 wheels if you want.
