The Forekaster is the perfect tyre to mount up during the shoulder seasons when the conditions are unpredictable.
Mid-height tread blocks are widely-spaced to allow penetration through loose trail conditions and for better mud-clearing compared to other race tyres. Wide, cupped knobs down the middle provide excellent braking on the sloppiest singletrack. Forget about the weather and focus on the ride with the Forekaster.
Foldable beads also keep the tyre secured to the rim but are lighter weight and easily transported. The bead is made of spun aramid or Kevlar Fibers.
Two compounds used within the tread of select tyres to offer lower rolling resistance and increased cornering grip.
3C Triple Compound - Mountain
Maxxis 3C Triple Compound Mountain Technology Uses A Harder, Longer Lasting Base Layer And Two Progressively Softer Top Layers In Order To
Optimize Traction And Stability. Maxxis Offers Three Different Configurations Of Our 3C Triple Compound Mountain Technology: Maxxspeed,
Maxxterra And Maxxgrip
Used primarily in cross country tyres, the two compounds in the outer layer are specially formulated to reduce rolling resistance and optimize treadwear and traction.
An extremely cut-resistant and abrasion-resistant material added to the sidewalls of select mountain tyres.
This densely woven fabric is also lightweight and highly flexible, ensuring that the performance of the tyre remains unaffected.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tubeless Tyres Provide The Rider With Many Benefits: The Ability To Run Lower Air Pressures, Which Improves Traction; Lower Rolling Resistance When Compared To A Tube-type Tyre; And Less Chance Of Flatting Since There Is No Tube. Liquid Sealants Should Only Be Used In The Following Types Of Tyres: Tubeless Road, Tubular, And Tubeless Ready. The Use Of Liquid
Threads Per Inch (TPI)
The number of threads that cross through one square inch of a single ply of the tyre’s casing. Lower TPI gives better puncture, cut and abrasion resistance but is heavier. Higher TPI conforms better to the terrain, offering a smoother, more comfortable ride while reducing the weight of the tyre. Maxxis TPI ratings are the threads-per-inch of a single casing ply, as compared to some competitor TPI ratings.
