Replacing Your Bike Headset Crown Race?
Designed to work on most 1" and 1-1/8" headset/fork systems, the Park Tool CRS-1 Headset Crown Race Setting System includes six (6), specially-sized Aluminium Rings (inserts) and one (1) Universal Driver Tube for installing a bicycle's headset crown race onto the fork's crown race seat.
Install Safely & Accurately
The bearing surface is spared a direct hit by using different inserts to ensure a proper fit on the race. Simply choose the correct insert (ring) then slide the Driver Tube over the fork tube and into the top end of the insert (ring). Then, using a hammer, tap firmly on the top of the Driver Tube and seat the race safely and accurately into its proper place. You'll notice the sound this creates will change as it seats.
Suits Forks Up To 340mm
The CRS-1 set includes one (1) Universal Setting Tube (Driver Tube), three (3) 1-inch inserts, and three (3) 1-1/8 inch inserts. The CRS-1 will work on forks of 340mm column length or less. Naturally being a Park Tool product you can be assured of its high-quality and long service-life potential.

When To Replace The Headset
Bearings on a bicycle allow the parts to rotate relative to one another. The headset allows the fork to turn smoothly while riding. Bicycles, and all two wheeled vehicles, make small self-corrections in steering while travelling forward. If the headset is pitted or worn, these corrections are not made smoothly and steering/handling suffers. Very worn headsets tend to "lock up" when the front wheel is pointing straight. Your headset should be replaced as soon as this problem occurs to prevent personal injury or expensive, unwanted damage to your bike in the event of a crash. You will need this Park Tool CRS-1 Headset Crown Race Setting System to do the job properly.
NOTE: For oversized column length in 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" use the Park Tool CRS-15.2 Crown Race Setter.
