How to Wax Your Chain?
DIY Starter Kit
The wax comes as pellets in a heat-safe cylinder. Heat it via a hot-water bath—no fancy wax heater is required. For seasoned wax users, the pellets also work with dedicated hot-wax setups. A new innovative chain hanger is included to prevent tangling during application.
- Use a prepped clean grease free chain for waxing.
- Remove label & lid from wax kit.
- Remove chain hanger from wax pellets.
- Place kit in pot of hot water on the stovetop (yes the tub goes in the water).
- Make sure water is 85-90 degrees, wait about 40 minutes until wax is fully melted.
- Fit chain to the supplied chain hanger with the end of the chain in starting slot.
- Roll the chain around the hanger.
- When the wax is fully melted place the chain on the hanger, submerged the wax.
- Spin the hanger to make sure wax penetrates the linkages of the chain.
- Leave for 5-10 minutes.
- Remove chain and hanger from the wax.
- Place on paper towel and leave chain on hanger until fully cooled.
- Once cool (Up to 1hr), refit chain to bike.
