Born for champions – handmade for you

The Competition stands for true handwork with a needle and thread. It is one of the most dependable tires in the pro peloton. It has proven itself time and time again on the world stages often accompanying prominent cyclists to their victory. Continental is proud of their Competition, that is why they always keep it on the road to victory.

TT stands for Time Trial! In the fight against the clock whole round trips are decided. That is reason enough for Continental to offer a particularly fast tire for this. Designed as time trial tubular tire, the Competiton TT enjoys in addition, with normal races of large popularity under the professionals. Reason is its structure: Owing to the Black Chili rubber mixture the Chrono specialist is not only super fast, its Vectran™ Breaker offers beyond that outstanding puncture protection. The Competition was the first tire to be equipped with the revolutionary Black Chili rubber compound and the special Vectran™ Breaker fabric. Made in Germany!

BlackChili Compound

This unique tread rubber mixture which is only produced in the German Continental factory has revolutionized bicycle tires. The resultant compound showed a new relationship between grip and rolling resistance. This "elevated level", as it was previously known, was given the name BlackChili. The latest polymers, nanoscale soot particles and optimized fillers all guarantee a unique performance, from Downhill MTB tires to the ProTour's time trial tires, they are second to none in their respective areas. BlackChili Compound improves rolling resistance by 26 % and provides 30 % more grip than activated silica compounds. Premium tires with BlackChili impress also with higher mileage and unlike many multi-compounds, provide a constant ride from the first to the last kilometer.

Vectran™ Breaker

Vectran™ is spun from Vectra liquid crystal polymer, which results in a thread that is thermoplastic and has multifilaments. This semicrystalline material is harder then aramid, has five times higher tensile strength than steel and in addition, is also lighter than comparable nylon thread. Vectran™ maintains these attributes even in the most adverse weather conditions.
